    Summer Pictoral 2014

    Wait - it's summer? Sure!

I'm still recovering, #projectfemur style, from my January accident. It's amazing how quickly muscles atrophy, and how difficult it is to get all of the strength and flexibility back. But it's coming, slowly but surely.

This past Sunday (June 22), I went on a morning hike up Soapstone Mountain in north-central Connecticut. It was a lovely, crisp morning for late June, and the air was very clear from the summit of the mountain, atop the observation tower.

Note the pizza and beer - leftovers from the previous night's teenage carousing, I'm sure.

That's just a first shot - anybody else care to check in?

Pretty country, Rudi. Glad to hear you're able to do some hiking now. That was a tough injury. I suppose patient persistence is the ticket with this recovery.

Here are a few from our recent trip to the Lake Champlain area. Camping and cycling.

Below is the causeway across the lake. An old railroad bed, now part of the Island Line Trail, 12 miles of glorious cycling.

Stiletto Peak on the North Cascade National Park, last Friday.
If you have never done this road you should. It would be an amazing trip on a motorcycle. Very good road, very light traffic, and there is lots of this stuff.

These are tent caterpillars, they are at a very high number throughout Puget Sound area. In our yard (which kind of resembles a jungle) we have lost at least a dozen trees. They will become moths not butterflies, so not cute. The robins have been eating so many they are walking now, bats next.

This is what I've been doing the past months. This pic was taken a few months ago and much more is been done but you can see the magnitude of the project. I expect to have it completed by October. Name: Rapaport house.jpg

I rode my motorcycle to the ski hill once. Froze almost everything. I was so stiff it took an hour indoors to begin to feel like even putting on my ski boots.
