Here in NE our tree killers currently are "winter moths." In the spring the little green caterpillars eat all the leaves on oaks and some other trees; they are known as defoliators. In bad years, the trees are naked at the end of spring. 24/7 when you walk outside it sounds like it's raining. That's their poop falling. Most of the oaks will send out a new flush for the rest of the summer, once the caterpillars pupate. But some trees are too traumatized and just die. In good years the caterpillars don't eat as much. Below is a winter moth caterpillar. I found one yesterday; I thought they were totally gone for the season. We've also had gypsy moths do the same thing.

Looks like a great day, MR. You're livin the life my friend. That K-MAX is a cool beast, any idea what they were doing with it that day? I checked out the video in your link, it's a real work horse. You could have made several runs if you could have borrowed it for a couple hours.

I think they were dispensing concrete from the looks of the two cone shaped hopper, but I don't know what for or where exactly. It is a crazy cool design, pretty much all engine and rotor. The blister windows on either side of the cockpit add to the strange bug-like look it has.

We had contemplated alternate methods of vehicular mobilization when we hit the snow in the road. ATV? Motorcycle? The K-Max, for some silly reason, didn't come to mind at the moment!

Went to a baseball game last night. I attend fairly often, but seldom sit in the upper decks, so I took advantage of the view to snap a couple of panoramic shots.

The first one is a daytime shot, right around first pitch:

The second shot is well into the game, after dark:

I didn't know that they were upgrading the Colorado Super Chair from a 4 to a 6-pack. Noone tells me anything!
