Thread: ski train?

    ski train?

I'm thinking of taking the train from Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN to Whitefish, MT in mid-March -- about a 23 hour trip, but cheaper (and more interesting) than flying. Has anyone had experience with the ski train, especially to Whitefish?
    Thanks ...

No personal experience with that train, but if it is loaded with skiers, it'll be fun, for certain.

I used to take the ski train from Portland, ME to Sunday River; it was a day trip. It took longer than driving and was more expensive but it was great fun with my buddies along for the ride.

Hi Bob, ! Maybe it will be like those super late night reruns on ghetto cable of Soul Train.

Are you Oprah's Bob Green? Just wondering.

Bob, welcome to the Village. Haven't heard of it, but keep us updated with what you find, and would love to hear a trip report if you decide to do it.

That train is the Empire Builder. It runs Chicago to Seattle with Kalispell as one of its stops. Look it up on Amtrak, it should be easy to find.

I always wanted to take the train into Sun Valley, just born a generation late for that one.
