I have suggested an early April trip to CO,she can visit family and you betcha what I will be doing! It is a win win for all(atleast in theory). We'll work on it.

Cool. If your trip out here doesn't correspond with our "Village West" gathering, we'll put together a mini gathering with the guys who are out here.

19 years old - and seemed to have it together... Nice polite comment about this being a highlight for him...

I get the feeling someone in tennis Australia has taken him in hand and been having talks with him about psychology. We all saw close up what happens with the Scuds approach. SCUD-->DUD

My wife and I are very casual birders. We've been on a couple of walks with the city ornithologist but mostly we use our binoculars on our back deck. Last night not only did we see two sets of parents feeding three out of the nest babies, but she spied a humming bird perched in a dead tree about one hundred feet away. With the binoculars we could see the definite shape of a humming bird but couldn't really see his magnificent iridescent colors. As we were looking at him he left his branch. Usually we can follow the birds in the spy glasses as they fly, but these little critters fly mach schnell, man. I guess we both lost him at the same time but as we adjusted to unenhanced vision, there he was zipping by a foot from our faces! He went directly to the porch light which has a red light bulb in it. He quickly realized there was no nectar to be had there so he turned his attention to my wife's red blouse! He came over and hovered right in front of her for a few seconds, providing us with great views of his ruby throat as well as his blue and green head and wings.

    Yay!

    Wow Freak - close encounters!

There are a pack of long billed corellas and a few galahs and some rainbow lorikeets around here... they show up for feeding at the end of the street and the house behind us... in between they hang around the area eating grass, camelia buds, conifer seeds... and whatever else takes their fancy

Big day tomorrow. Mom goes in for a full knee replacement. Her second one. The first was 4 years ago, and went great. Hoping this one turns out equally well.
