Hi Freaq, Yes. I was on the D Team at that point. That race was at Stratton in the winter of '77. I won!

About Freaq
Not sure what persuaded me to join the ski club in seventh grade but it was love at first slide. For six years I skied Mt. Holly on Thursday nights and Crystal Mt (Michigan) a few weekends each season. When I turned eighteen my parents quit paying for my fun and it was fourteen years before I clicked in again. So twenty years after I my first bunny hill run I had never experienced a hill with more than 600' of vertical.

One Thanksgiving night I was driving back home and saw the lights from a local hill and the desire that had been missing for so long filled my soul like water fills a swimming pool.

The next day I rented some gear and headed for the hill. I bought skis at the next swap and I haven't looked back. I started taking ski trips and each one was further away and to a bigger mountain.

When I desired more than Vermont had to offer I signed up for a train trip to Winter Park, CO with a bunch of strangers. I've been back to WP every season since.

I love nearly everything about skiing. I'm always looking for something new and always eager to repeat past skiing experiences. I CAN'T WAIT FOR MY NEXT SKI TRIP!!!
Footbag, concerts, driving, radio, cooking, letterboxing.

Please sir, may I have another?

New boots!

by Freaq on December 16th, 2012 at 07:13 AM
By the end of last year I was cursing my boots and suffering my third consecutive year of black toenail. On my last trip I believe I had half a dozen sessions with fitters trying to make the pain stop and it was during one of these sessions that I was told that my feet were just about perfect for the Fischer Soma last. I also had the chance to try on the new Dalbello KR2 which is an update of the boot I've been in for the past five years or so and said updates pleased me very much.

2012 Ski Blog: Day Thirty

Skied Mary Jane, Winter Park

Skied with (a different) Bill

Skied on K2 Cabrawlers

Conditions were very firm.

Well, this was the day that we started the drive back home so I was only skiing the first half of the day. I was feeling the bumps and bruises of seventeen out of nineteen ski days and I think that if Bill hadn't made a last minute business trip to Denver I would have blown this day off and hit the road early.

It was

Conditions were sunny and warm but not warm enough to soften much up significantly.

This was one of those days where it was difficult to motivate in the morning. I'm pretty achy and my legs could use a break but I'll no longer have the opportunity to ride up a mountain in a couple of days. I was saying today that it's been difficult to get ready the last few

Well folks, my grand excursion has spanned much of western US ski country but is now winding down. I've now got two ski days left and that will most likely be it until next season.

I got to the C lot a bit early because I just love to sit there and gaze at the mountain. More than anyplace else, I feel at home here

Boy, did I have a hard time getting going today. I'm so happy that my wife is here with me now but last night that translated to a late (for this early bird) night on the town. That, combined with two weeks of accumulated aches and pains, then added to the creamy sun softened snow that I skied yesterday, kept me in the hotel until 11:30 or so.

On the snow shortly
